It is relatively simple to automate multiple Perple_X calculations with scripts. Automated procedures are useful for the systematic exploration of the effect of compositional or physical variables and can be visualized as a phase diagram movie. The movies below illustrate: 1) the effect of changing water content on the phase relations of a pelitic lithology as a function of pressure, temperature and bulk water content, and 2) AFM phase relations as function of temperature. These examples were created by a script written by Evangelos Moulas with assistance from Nicola Tisato (both at the Geological Institute, ETHZ).
